Hockenheim

Tyler put together a stunning drive from 20th on the grid up to 10th in his rookie f3 race.  It was an uphill battle all weekend but Tyler came through with excellent results for the BVM Target squad.

Tyler overcame great odds to show his potential in one of the world’s premier Formula 1 feeder series.  Electrical problems sidelined the team for 2 of the 3 hours of testing on Friday.  First a battery failure, then a blown fuse left Tyler stranded on the circuit, until Track crew felt it was safe to return the car to the pits.  With a few minutes left on the clock the team tried to get some valuable data for Saturdays qualifying.

Saturday started with unexpected rain, making for a very interesting day.  The team was quite happy with a great time before a red flag disrupted the 30 minute qualifying session.  Unsure of weather changes race engineer Umberto Visintini gambled with both Tyler and Cesar Ramos tire pressures. Raising Tyler’s to gain grip in wetter conditions, while dropping pressure in Cesar’s car.  After green Tyler’s times looked to be quick, but a lack of rain halted his progress.  Ultimately dropping him to 20th position.

Rain in qualifying may have been a setback, but Sunday was Tyler’s day to shine.  Weaving his way through the field on the opening lap.  He fell into a quick rhythm steadily climbing up the charts.  Increasing pace throughout the race as he became more familiar with the car.  Tyler would eventually set 4th quickest time, an impressive feat with his lack of seat time.

"I am really happy with the result from this weekend, I have reached my goal of a top 10.  The team and I have gathered a lot of information for the following rounds.  I used the race to better understand the feeling of the car since I did only 1 day of preseason testing.  The car was fantastic, and it was a joy working with Umberto and my mechanic Fabio.  The chemistry between the whole team is fantastic, I already feel comfortable with everyone.  The only issue we have is a lack of torque in both qualifying and the race, but the motor is going back to Fiat to be checked.  I am excited to get back in the car next month for the Imola Italy round."
